Economic Development Initiative

WIBA has partnered with the City of Wichita to stimulate and promote economic growth in the Wichita metropolitan area. The WIBA Economic Development Initiative will support business expansion, create at least 100 local jobs and provide workforce education opportunities and scholarships.

In 2016, WIBA will:
  • Actively identify, engage and mentor disadvantaged, emerging and/or established businesses that have a desire to grow, but need additional staff.
  • Seek out potential job candidates with the skill set(s) required, or who can be trained for the resulting open positions.
  • Provide job training scholarships and training opportunities for potential workers.

WIBA has partnered with several key organizations such as the Entrepreneurship Task Force and the Kansas Small Business Development Center to provide business mentoring, specifically to aid in the expansion of their business’s capacity and workforce.

In partnership with Workforce Alliance, WIBA will be hosting two job fairs this year:
  • June 22nd 2016 at the Wichita Boathouse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • October 19th 2016 at the Wichita Boathouse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If your company would like to participate in one of the job fairs, please call Cindy Patry at or (316) 201-3264.

Businesses who want to grow and need assistance locating qualified work force please contact Ray Frederick, WIBA President at or (316) 201-3264.
